Fishel Szlajen

Professor at the University of Buenos Aires; Ordinary Member of the Pontifical Academy for Life

Fishel Szlajen is a rabbi and holds a postdoctoral degree in bioethics, a PhD in philosophy, and an MA in Jewish philosophy. Szlajen serves as a senior professor at the University of Buenos Aires, La Matanza National University and the University of Salvador. He is also a Mandel Jerusalem Fellow from the Mandel Leadership Institute and a Scholar Fellow on Religion and the Rule of Law at the University of Oxford. He is an ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy for Life, a member of the Argentine National Academic Council of Ethics in Medicine, a member of the Argentine Council for Religious Freedom and a member of the International Consortium for Law and Religion Studies.

Szlajen has published extensively, with more than 300 works including books, papers and articles, several of which have won national and international awards and distinctions. Szlajen's academic contributions have had a significant impact on legislation and policies in Argentina, providing foundational documents that inform societal solutions to pressing issues in bioethics & biotechnology, transhumanism & algorethics, ethics in public policies & ethics in AI, education, religious liberty, and politics, among other fields.
