Michael Severance

Senior Research Fellow at the Acton Institute, Visiting Fellow at MCC

Michael Severance is a philosopher, writer and currently a Senior Research Fellow for the Acton Institute. Over the span of 18 years, he has both managed and directed the Institute’s international office in Rome whose mission in the Eternal City and throughout Europe is to form future and current religious leaders in the appreciation of the entrepreneurial, free and virtuous society. In these capacities he represents the Institute via public speaking, contributing to international media, organizing private and public conferences, and publishing Acton books in foreign languages. He is a member the board of writers for the International Van Thuan Observatory for Catholic Social Doctrine, has served in advisory capacities for many other religious institutions in Rome and Europe, and is co-author of Sacre Scritture e Ricchezza (Sacred Scripture and Wealth). With graduate degrees from the University of Oxford in Philosophy and Languages, Severance also teaches philosophy of art, virtue ethics, and the human person to international students in Rome.
