Samuel Trizuljak
Board Member of the Ladislav Hanus Fellowship, Visiting Fellow at MCC
Dr. Samuel Trizuljak is an author, historian and board member at Ladislav Hanus Fellowship, the leading association of Christian students and young professionals in Slovakia. His academic interests lie at the intersection of history of political thought, Catholicism and Central Europe. In September 2025, he defended his dissertation entitled "Hlinka's Avant-Garde? The Rise and Fall of Modern Christian Culture in Slovakia, 1930-1948" at Charles University in Prague and his academic papers are forthcoming or published in journals such as Memory of Nation, Litikon, Central European Journal of Contemporary Religion, History – Theory – Criticism and by Angelicum University Press. Samuel previously studied political science and history at Cambridge University (M.A.), Oxford University (M.St.), and Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (visiting). As lecturer, he has taught courses for Ladislav Hanus Fellowship and Anton Neuwirth College in Bratislava, John Paul II Project in Krakow and Mathias Corvinus Collegium in Budapest. He serves on the editorial board of the Slovak Christian intellectual revue Verbum and his popular writing has appeared in European Conservative, Teologia Polityczna, Visegrad24, Postoj and Štandard. His first book, "Higher and Deeper Education: 33 Tips for Christian Students in Bratislava, Oxford, or Anywhere Else", was published in September 2021 and Samuel has since spoken on matters of faith, culture and education at more than 20 university campuses across Central Europe. Between 2018 and 2023, he has worked as a speechwriter for several Slovak politicians, including two defence ministers. His current book project concerns the distinctive religious-civic culture of contemporary American Catholicism and bears the tentative name "Being a Leaven: What Can European Churches Learn From Leading American Catholic Evangelization and Civil Society Ministries".
