Setényi János

Director of the Learning Institute

János Setényi is an educational expert and policy advisor with a background in history and a doctorate in educational sciences from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He began his career at the Institute for Educational Research, a key center for educational reform, and has worked for over 25 years with international bodies such as the OECD, Council of Europe, and European Commission, particularly in the Balkans and post-Soviet regions.

In 1995, he founded Expanzió Human Consulting Ltd., one of Central Europe’s first for-profit educational consultancies. His focus since the early 2000s has been on evaluation—from policy to program level—and more recently on digitization, innovation in the learning industry, and disruptive technologies. He is a founding member of the Hungarian Evaluation Society and an active contributor to debates on the future of education systems.

A dedicated practitioner of Chen-style Taijiquan for over 20 years, he is a formally recognized disciple of the tradition.
